The month of June started with a big storm, rain and thunder. It seems the monsoon rainy season has been disrupted, just like the weather around the world. In many provinces, schools were closed all week due to flooding and landslides. In our Deaf School the students are boarders, so we could simply teach.
On June 14, Mala, our vice principal, celebrated her birthday. She has been teaching our deaf children for 36 years. In the cooking class, the students baked a delicious cake for this day.
On June 30, the baby of two of our former students: Erandi and Priyantha, was baptized in the Saint Sebastian Church in Moratuwa. Mala, Pathum and Tineke were invited from our school. It was a beautiful ceremony. Afterwards, the neighbors of this young deaf couple had lunch ready for all 25 guests!
