The Foundation

The Foundation of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf, was established in Enschede, the Netherlands, in 1982, when Tineke de Silva-Nijkamp was about to start with the Deaf School in Sri Lanka. It is named: the Stichting tot Steun aan de Dr. Reijntjesdovenschool in Sri Lanka.

The Board Members are supporting the activities of the Deaf School in Sri Lanka; they are giving information to sponsors and are transferring the donations for the Deaf School in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Reijntjes

The Deaf School is named after Dr. Reijntjes. He was a famous ENT Doctor in Enschede, the Netherlands. He passed away in June 2010 at the age of 95 years.

Tineke de Silva-Nijkamp worked 12 years together with Dr. Reijntjes in the Prof. Dr. Huizingschool (School for Hearing Impaired Children) in the Netherlands, before she started the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf in Moratuwa Sri Lanka in 1984.
