Newsletter September and October 2025
On September 1st, the students returned after the August break. Three new students joined us.
On September 4th, Pathum, our IT Instructor, graduated. He received a certificate for his studies: Graphic Design. Four other deaf alumni accompanied him, who also received a certificate.

Mudithe went with Piumi, the vice principal, to the Ratmalana Deaf School to provide information about the Dr. Reijntjes Deaf School using a PowerPoint presentation. There is excellent collaboration between these two deaf schools. Our new vocational training class on photography and videography also includes several deaf students and alumni of the Ratmalana Deaf School.

On September 17th, we took the children to the zoo for a day. The plans had been in place for some time, but because of all the rain, they had to be postponed repeatedly. The renovated zoo now looks like a beautiful park.

In October, we held a workshop with teachers from the special education program in Colombo. They performed exercises with the 7th-grade students. On October 12, Dr. Suleesha Perera came to give a workshop on dance, music, and sign language. It was a truly surprising morning. Our deaf students loved it and participated enthusiastically in all the exercises. On October 21, the teachers treated the children to a sandwich an croquet with tea, in honor of Teachers’ Day. We also showed an old school film that morning.
