New Course Photography and Videography

On June 15, 2025, the NVQ Certificate Course Photography, Videography and Drone Pilot for deaf students started. The course will last until mid-January 2026. This is the first time in Sri Lanka that this course is given to deaf students!

We have a total of 19 deaf students, including 5 young deaf women. Classes are given every Sunday by Mudithe De Silva (Director of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf) in the auditorium of the Deaf School. Sri Lankan sign language is used. Films and photos are shown on the smart board. Well-known photographers from “Camera.lk” will assist with the practical lessons.

 

The deaf students are very enthusiastic. Many said that their dream is now coming true. In January, they all hope to pass a recognized diploma, so that they can look forward to a good job. For deaf people, a recognized diploma is of great importance, because unfortunately they are often not taken seriously due to their disability!
