Reunion of Past Pupils of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf on 1-06-2025.
Today was the first official Reunion of the deaf past pupils and teachers of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf in Moratuwa. Hundred people came to be present, most of them from remote areas. A drink and cake were served in the dining hall and everybody was in a happy mood to see each other again!
A nice program was made for the past pupils on power point, with old pictures of the beginning years of the Deaf School. There were also some speeches, one of the Founder Principal Mrs. Tineke de Silva, one from Salika, a past pupil and a speech from a past speech therapist, Mrs. Buddhini. After that the deaf school children did a dance and Ushan, a past pupil, did a beautiful solo dance. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Susiri de Silva, the Secretary of the Dr. Reijntjes School for the Deaf Trust.
After the program was finished, a lunch of rice and curries was arranged by a caterer and wattalapan was served as dessert.
What a beautiful day! For sure that we arrange a reunion for next year again.
